Samford Orchestra To Present Fall Concert Tuesday, October 9

The Samford  University Orchestra will present its inaugural concert under the direction of conductor Les Fillmer Tuesday, Oct. 9. The public is invited free of charge to the 7:30 p.m. performance by the 52-member orchestra in Brock Recital Hall.

Fillmer, chairman emeritus of the Alabama School of Fine Arts Department of Music, joined the Samford School of Performing Arts music faculty this year.

The program will include Karl Goldmark's "In Italy, Overture, Op. 49," Franz Joseph Haydn's "Notturno No. 3 in C Major, Hob:11:32," Georg Frideric Handel's "Music for the Royal Fireworks," Shane Lamb's "Fantasy on a Theme by Kayla Lamb," and Alexander Borodin's "Symphony No. 3 in A minor."
