Samford University is hosting 60 high school debaters and 20 faculty members from throughout the nation July 11-23 during the annual Samford Forensics Institute.
Participants will study public speaking, argument and debate. A demonstration tournament will be held at the end of the Institute on July 23.
This year marks the 30th summer for the Samford Forensics Institute, which began in 1974 as a small program specializing in policy debate. Since then, Lincoln-Douglas debate sessions and programs for teachers have been added.
Dr. Michael Janas, director of debate at Samford, is Institute director.
