Dr. Martin C. Weisskopf, senior project scientist for the Chandra X-ray Telescope and Space Observatory since 1977, will speak in Samford University’s planetarium on Sept. 21 at 7 p.m.
Dr. Weisskopf will discuss the design and development of NASA's X-ray component of the Great Observatories, which include Hubble, Spitzer, and the now defunct Compton Gamma-Ray Observatory.
This program is part of the monthly meeting of the Birmingham Astronomical Society, which meets in the planetarium the third Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m.
