On June 17, 2008, David Frings received notice from CAWACO that the interpretive center was awarded their $5,000.00 educational grant request for interpretive signs at the Monarch Butterfly Waystation.
- On June 15, 2008 Walter McKee & Associates sent the exhibit hall design drawings out for review and comment.
- In April, 2008 the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources asked Walter McKee & Associates to prepare the bid package for the renovation of the exhibit hall.
- On June 11, 2007, Shelby County Manager Alex Dudchock announced a "partnership" between the County, Samford University, and Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural resources. Shelby County pledged $150,000.00 to the Oak Mountain Interpretive Center for the purchase of meeting room and laboratory furnishings, exhibit design, and construction of exhibits. The funding from Shelby County will be allocated from the lodging tax with is used in part to promote tourism in Shelby County. We thank Shelby County for their generous contribution and look forward to a long relationship as we develop the interpretive center.
Aquatic field studies began at the park on May 23, 2007.
