    From the Dean+

It is my honor and delight to introduce the Academy of the Arts. This new effort is the realization of a dream for Samford University, the School of the Arts and our community.

The new Academy of the Arts draws together the best of existing preparatory and continuing education programs in art, photography and music and adds exciting new opportunities in culinary arts, expanded areas of music and community programs for all ages.

The new home for the Academy is a beautiful and welcome space for all. Parking is easy access and the facility does not have steps or barriers. The location is just across Lakeshore Drive from the main campus on the road between Homewood High and Covenant Presbyterian Church (South Lakeshore Drive). Families may enjoy the generous playground while waiting for classes or lessons, and the large gathering room promises to be a wonderful space for community gatherings, large classes and intimate performances.

Special thanks to our staff and leadership team in guiding this transition and preparing for such a significant advancement in these programs. We are grateful to parents, community students and friends for your financial support, which has made it possible for us to create a stunning new piano lab, purchase needed equipment, buy new instruments and shape meaningful scholarships. Indeed, because of these investments, Samford will be able to touch many more from our community with a quality arts experience.

I hope you will take a moment to explore the course offerings, workshops and previews available on our website. Perhaps you will even consider completing a certificate. Bring a friend and come help us celebrate this wonderful new center for learning as we prepare today's artist to shape tomorrow’s world.
