Biographical Information

Caroline Nordlund is on the violin faculties of the Alabama School of Fine Arts and the Community Music School of the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.  She serves as the President-Elect of the Alabama American String Teachers Association and plays in the Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra.  Caroline has been on the faculty of the Lutheran Summer Music Festival where she has taught violin and musicianship, and coached chamber music and orchestra sectionals.  While at LSM, she was a member of the faculty Omega String Quartet and she performed in a variety of chamber and solo concerts.

Caroline earned a Master’s Degree in violin performance and pedagogy from Northwestern University while studying with Gerardo Ribeiro, Stacia Spencer, and Dr. James Kjelland.  While on the violin and Kindermusik faculties of the Northwestern University Music Academy, Caroline served as the Assistant Group Director of the Northwestern Strings.  She helped lead this premier group of young violinists on a tour of Italy as participants in the American Celebration of Music. 

Caroline is a member of Pi Kappa Lambda and the Music Teachers National Assocation.  Most recently, she was the Director of the Scrollworks Youth Music School in Birmingham.  Originally from SC, Caroline graduated summa cum laude from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Music degree in violin performance as a student of Frits de Jonge.
