Biographical Information
Dr. Mary Ann Culotta is a native of Birmingham, Alabama. Prior to her retirement in 2007 she was Director of Arts Education for the Jefferson County Board of Education supervising Fine Arts programs K-12 in 55 schools.  She is currently Visual Artsand Art Education professor at Samford University where she received her undergraduate art degree.  Dr. Culotta holds a Masters degree from the University of Alabama in Birmingham and a PhD from The Florida State University.  Dr. Culotta serves on several arts boards, as well as, acting in an advisory capacity to various arts and educational organizations. She has received numerous awards for her work in the areas of arts education, administration and advocacy. She has conducted workshops/lectures at the national, state and local levels.   She is an appointed Art and Design Examiner for the International Baccalaureate Organization - Cardiff, Wales.  Dr. Culotta is a painter and mixed media artist often using eclectic media as part of the creative process.  In her spare time she enjoys travel, cooking,reading and aerobic activities in and outdoors.
