Biographical Information

Julia Georges is a member of the music faculty of Samford University where she teaches school music for non-music elementary education majors. She also maintains a growing private clarinet studio of local middle school and high school Birmingham students. Georges received her Master of Music in clarinet performance from Arizona State University and also holds a bachelor degree in music education.

 

While at Arizona State University, Georges studied with world-renown clarinet soloist Robert Spring. In Arizona, Julia played clarinet and bass clarinet with numerous local groups including the Tempe Symphonic Wind Ensemble, the Arizona Opera, the Mill Avenue Chamber Players, as well as the Arizona State Contemporary Music Ensemble (ACME) and the Arizona State Bass Clarinet Quartet. Julia also spent two summers with the Belgian Clarinet Academy where she was able to study with Guido Six, Eddy Vanoosthuyse, and Tamara Cuypers.

 

Raised on the border in El Paso, Texas, Julia loves her new home in the South. Her newest hobby includes training for and running long distance races.
