The Samford University Division of Music is housed in John H. Buchanan Hall and Jane Hollock Brock Hall, with performing venues in the 300-seat Brock Recital Hall, 2,600-seat Leslie S. Wright Auditorium, the 700-seat Reid Chapel, the 400-seat Hodges Chapel in Beeson Divinity School, the 180-seat Bolding Studio, and the 60-bell Rushton Memorial Carillon housed in Davis Library.
Jane Hollock Brock Hall was dedicated in October 2006 and named for the wife of longtime Samford trustee and supporter Harry B. Brock, Jr. Brock Recital Hall is home to the Davis Architects Guest Artist Series, the Alabama Symphony Orchestra Concertmaster and Friends, and the SuperJazz Big Band, as well as the numerous ensembles wtihin the Division of Music. The recital hall is equipped with adjustable panels within its walls to adapt the acoustics to suit the needs of the performers. Cassese Rehearsal Hall in Brock Hall is named for Samford trustee Jenna Cassese and her husband, Joseph. Cassese Rehearsal Hall is the primary rehearsal space for the Samford Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Marching Band, Percussion Ensemble, and Jazz Ensemble. Jane Hollock Brock Hall also contains a camber music rehearsal hall, lecture classroom, green room for performers and guest artists, and spacious practice studios.
Bolding Studio, dedicated on October 14, 2006, is named for Samford alumna Bonnie Bolding Swearingen. As a Samford student, Mrs. Swearingen participated in a variety of activities, including drama and the Samford Bands. The versatile studio named in her honor reflects this, as it hosts plays, vocal and instrumental recitals, choir rehearsals, choreography classes, lectures, and more. John H. Buchanan Hall is the hub of the Division of Music, housing classrooms, practice rooms, faculty studios, and a computer lab. Samford University's facilities also include a 42-rank Aeolian Skinner organ (1962) in Reid Chapel, a 15-rank von Beckerath tracker instrument (1975) in Bolding Studio, and a 30-rank Letourneau organ (1995) in Hodges Chapel in Beeson Divinity School. Practice instruments include a 6-rank von Beckerath (1975) and a 5-rank Holtkamp.
