Summer Theatre Camp 2009Dates for 2009 June 8 - 12, 9:00 am to 2:00 pm Once Upon a Time for Grades 1 through 6* $195 The week will be spent learning lines for a play as well as painting a scenic backdrop, gathering costumes and makeup designs for the various characters, and practicing onstage. Special classes include stage combat, creative movement, and outdoor games. The week will culminate in a performance onstage in the Harrison Theatre. *Due to construction and renovation projects on campus, enrollment in this camp will be limited to 70 students in Grades 1 through 6 (rising). We will not offer a kindergarten class this year, but will bring that option back next year. June 22 - 26, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm Theatre Arts Intensive $215 This week-long camp continues to grow. Last year, our seventh and eight grade students presented an excerpt from the classic “The Wind in the Willows", and “Azalea”, an original play by Samford alumnus Katrina Moore. Eight and ninth graders proved to us that even an apparent physical oddity can be beautiful through a thoughtful play entitled “The Tragical Tale of Melissa McHiney McNormous McWhale”. Our older students demonstrate audition skills and the performance rounded out with stage combat demonstrations and musical selections from favorite shows such as Rent and The Producers.
Thank you to all who particpated in 'Once Upon a Time' and the Theatre Arts intensive in 2008!! Feel free to contact Lisa Gibbs at legibbs@samford.edu with any suggestions or comments regarding our summer theatre camps.
