There will be a variety of Banner Self-Service training materials and sessions for Samford University students, staff, and faculty. These materials are separated into Student, Staff, and Faculty/Advisor categories. The student section is subsequently divided into incoming, current, international and study abroad areas.  

 

Fact sheets and tutorials within this website should assist in meeting many of your Banner learning needs. We are also offering training sessions. These sessions are optional, but highly encouraged to facilitate your use of Banner Self-Service. Sessions are being offered at numerous times by members of the Self Service Committee. Please contact your department/school's representative for more information. Topics that may be reviewed include the following:

  • Audience: Samford University Faculty and Advisors
  • Description: These two hour sessions will provide mini-lectures combined with hands-on training to teach faculty and advisors how to facilitate the mentoring and registration of students using Banner Self-Service.
  • Objectives: After this session, faculty and advisors will be prepared to:
  • 1.     Verify a student's registration status.

    2.     Review a student's placement test scores.

    3.     Facilitate a student's registration planning.

    4.     Perform registration permits and overrides.

    5.      Display weekly class schedule and class rosters.

    6.      List office hours and course syllabi information for your classes.

  • Audience: Samford University Staff
  • Description: The one hour sessions will provide mini-lectures combined with hands-on training to teach staff how to use Banner Self-Service. 
  • Objectives: After this session, staff will be prepared to view and update their general personal information.

NOTE: Samford employees who will be using Internet Native Banner (INB) or are faculty advisors must attend and complete the relevant training session(s).

 

Since there have been several updates to the Federal Privacy Act, it is recommended that all Samford employees complete the FERPA tutorial by the end of May 2007. Upon completing the tutorial, a record of your "attendance" will be sent to Human Resources.
