What is Banner?

 

Banner is a web-based, data administration software application. Samford University is using Banner to handle and integrate data from four functional areas: Finance, Human Resources, Student, and Financial Aid.

 

What is the difference between Banner Self-Service and INB?

 

Banner comes in two forms: Self-Service and INB. Banner Self-Service is the more user-friendly form and will be used by Samford University students and most Samford faculty and staff. Banner INB is the more complex form. INB will be used by select Samford faculty and staff to complete specific functional processes.

 

What training do I need?

 

Much of Banner Self-Service is intuitive and fairly easy to navigate. To facilitate your use of Banner, you may consider accessing the various resources available on this site including training sessions. A section of this website is set aside for Banner Training information. Everyone using INB Banner will need to receive Banner Training.

 

When is training provided?

 

Training will occur prior and during each system going live. The "Go-Live" dates displayed on the Timeline webpage.

 

How do I gain access to Banner?

 

Banner Self-Service is available through Samford University's Portal. INB is accessed via the www.samford.edu/banner website and requires an additional login and permission to access the site.

 

Is there a specific web browser that I should use to access Banner?

 

Yes. Internet Explorer (IE) is currently the recommended browser at Samford University. Testing and recommendations for specific versions of IE as well as those specific to MAC computer users will be conveyed to the Samford community prior to registration in April 2007. .

 

Can I connect to Banner Self-Service from home?

 

Ultimately, yes. Access can be obtained via Samford University's portal.

 

Who do I contact if I have a question about Banner Self-Service?

 

For the months immediately prior, during, and after the April 2007 Student Registration a support hotline number at 726-2662 will be available for any technical, Self-Service, or portal questions.

 

I have forgotten my Samford ID or password. What do I do?

 

Call the Samford University Computer User Services at 726-2662.

 

I have forgotten my Banner PIN ID or password. What do I do?

 

Most Samford University PIN IDs are a 9-digit number starting with the number "9." This number is used instead of your social security number.
