Ghana

This summer, I traveled to Ghana, West Africa with Standing With Hope, the prosthetic limb outreach ministry started by my family. For several years, Standing With Hope has worked with Ghana's government to train them on building and maintaining quality prosthetic limbs.  This year, we expanded our work from the capital city of Accra, to the Volta Region, particularly the city of Ho.

This is  a picture of me with Daniel JM Kodi, Director of the National Prosthetic and Orthotics Centre, and Dr. Ade-Acquah, Regional Director, Ghana Health Services (Volta Region).

Two other Samford team members were with us. My cousin, Drew Killingsworth, Samford ('06) who will also be a grad student at Samford this fall. Drew is building shelving for the prosthetic supplies provided by Standing With Hope to Ghana. Drew will be getting his MBA at Samford, and this is his second trip to Ghana.

Mamie McNeil will be a grad student this fall at Samford. Here she is with one of our patients, Alberta, after she received her new leg. I think everyone voted Mamie as the hardest working team member for this trip!

It was a great trip, and you can read my blog of our trip at http://ghanateam08.blogspot.com/2008/06/getting-ready-to-go.html
