Kathey has been employed at Samford since 1991 and has served in several areas on campus. She served as Secretary in the School of Pharmacy, a Student Records Specialist in the Office of Student Records, and Secretary in the Office of Financial Aid. In October of 2005, Kathey joined the School of Business where she serves as the Program Assistant in the Office of Undergraduate Programs.

Prior to working at Samford, Kathey worked at a small law firm typing legal documents and preparing documents for arbitration. Her role in the Office of Undergraduate Programs is assisting Director/Professor Barbara Cartledge and Academic Advisor Mrs. Gretchen Dorsey as they work diligently to make sure that each student is on track with their chosen major/minor and that they leave Samford feeling they were more than a number or face in a large crowd. The entire staff of the Office of Undergraduate Programs strive to be approachable and desire for each student to succeed.

Kathey and her husband, Ed, have two married sons, Scott (Heather) and Greg (Ashley), as well as three grandchildren, Allie, Anna and Noah. Her oldest son Scott and daughter-in-law Ashley are both Samford graduates. Kathey and Ed live in Pelham.

Kathey considers it a blessing to be able to work in an environment where there is so much energy and inspiration. When you are around folks who are always energized and learning; you become energized and want to learn and grow in your particular area. She views her time at Samford as a God-ordained calling.
