Dr. Betsy Bugg Holloway serves as an associate professor of marketing and the Hackney Family Research Fellow in the Brock School of Business at Samford University.  In this role she teaches courses in both the undergraduate and graduate (MBA) programs, including Marketing Management, Marketing Research, International Marketing, and Social Entrepreneurship.

Dr. Holloway earned her B.A. degree from Vanderbilt University, an M.B.A. degree from Samford University, and her Ph.D. in Marketing from the University of Alabama.  Prior to her academic career, Dr. Holloway held several positions in international marketing, and was most recently the director of international business development for a global pharmaceutical firm, Scandipharm Inc., (now Axcan Pharma). In this position she managed offices in Argentina, United Kingdom, Denmark, and Switzerland, and was responsible for all international sales and marketing efforts. Dr. Holloway has extensive international travel experience in approximately 60 foreign countries, and has working knowledge of French, Spanish, and Japanese languages.  She lived previously in England (1974 & 1981), France (1985), and Japan (1992).

Dr. Holloway’s research interests include services marketing, service failure and recovery, retailing, and online service delivery. She regularly presents her research at academic conferences in the U.S. and abroad, and her work has been published in some of the top marketing journals, including Journal of Service Research, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Personal Selling and Sales Management, Journal of Interactive Marketing, and Journal of Services Marketing. She presently serves on the editorial review boards of Journal of Marketing Theory and Practice and Journal of Services Marketing Quarterly.

Dr. Holloway is engaged in a wide array of community organizations, both in the local community and beyond. She currently serves on the board of directors of Omicron Delta Kappa national leadership honorary, the YWCA of Central Alabama, the IPC Foundation, and the Birmingham chapter of the American Red Cross. Her previous board service includes the Alabama Ballet, the Alabama World Trade Association, and the Vanderbilt University Board of Trust, where she was appointed a Young Alumni Trustee for her class and served from 1992-1996.  Dr. Holloway is actively engaged in her discipline, and is a member of the American Marketing Association, the Academy of Marketing Science, and the Society for Marketing Advances.

Dr. Holloway is married to Jimmy Holloway, a local real estate developer, and is the proud mother of two daughters, Brooke and Bebe.
