Dr. Stefan Norrbin joined Samford University as a Professor of Economics and the Dwight Moody Beeson Professor of Business in the fall of 2007. He also serves as the Chair of Economic, Finance, and Quantitative Analysis for Brock School of Business. Dr. Norrbin teaches Principles of Macroeconomics, International Economics, Special Topics in International Finance, and Competitive Strategy at the MBA level. His research interests and fields of specialization are in International Finance and Trade, Applied Macroeconomics, and Applied Econometrics.
After earning his Ph.D. from ASU in 1986, Dr. Norrbin joined the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa as an Assistant Professor of Economics for four years. He left the UA to work with McKinsey & Co. in Stockholm, Sweden, as an Associate/Financial Institutions Specialist. His tasks were to research and advice on mergers and strategic positioning of banks and insurance firms. In 1990 Dr. Norrbin joined the Florida State University as a professor of economics. At FSU, he has received three University Teaching Awards and been nominated for Graduate Mentor Award, Undergraduate Honors Thesis Advisor Award, Distinguished University Teaching Award. Dr. Norrbin has been involved in many research contracts for the State of Florida such as new child support guidelines, analysis of property tax proposals, a design of an affordability index, and an evaluation of Team Child as a solution to Florida’s juvenile delinquency problem. In addition, Dr. Norrbin has been a visiting (research and teaching) scholar at several institutions such as University of Hawaii, Central Bank of Sweden, Lund University (Sweden), and University of Copenhagen (Denmark).
Dr. Norrbin was born in Sweden, and has lived in many countries such as: India, Brazil, France, England and Norway. He lives in Hoover with his wife, Onnie.
