Samford’s Bulldog Investment Fund gives students hands-on experience managing an investment portfolio. Guided by faculty and an investment committee, students plan the fund’s strategies, research opportunities, and make the final investment decision.
The Bulldog Investment Fund, which will launch in spring 2008, will begin with an initial balance of $500,000. It will be subdivided into several investment style pools to broaden the experience.
Students participate in the fund through a one-semester, three-credit course offered in both spring and fall semesters. Eligible students will have completed certain business school courses such as Finance, Accounting and Investments. Admittance to the fund management team is by application and interview.
Student managers will meet at least weekly to receive updates on investment positions, exchange investment ideas and concepts, and learn to use professional grade research tools.
Students may repeat the course once for an additional 3 hours credit.
