Dr. Charles M. (Chad) Carson serves as Associate Dean and as an Associate Professor of Management and as the 2010-2011 Brock School of Business Advisory Board Research Scholar at the Brock School of Business. He was recently named the “Outstanding Educator” by the Federation of Business Disciplines for 2011. Carson has taught a wide variety of classes at Samford since the Fall of 2004 including Principles of Management, Human Resources Management and Small Business and Entrepreneurship Concepts at the undergraduate level and Organizational Management and Entrepreneurship at the MBA level. He is currently serving as the Vice President of Membership for the North American Case Research Association, the world’s leading case writing group.
A two-time recipient of the Brock School of Business’ Outstanding Scholarship Award, Carson has published more than 25 peer reviewedarticles in academic journals. Several of his articles have been published in leading academic journalssuch as Educational and PsychologicalMeasurement, Management Decision,Journal of Managerial Issues and Human Performance. As the President ofCarson Management Consulting, Dr. Carson has provided research, training andconsulting services to a wide range of clients including Hibbett Sports,HealthSouth, Community Bankers Association of Alabama, Hillsboro Retail Groupof Charlotte, Ashley Furniture, G & O Supply Co and Stacks FurnitureOutlet. Prior to entering theacademic world Carson worked as a Senior Auditor for the State of Mississippi,a Human Resources Benefits Generalist for Mississippi State University, and asan Assistant Manager for his family’s business, Carson’s Department Store. Carson received his PhD from theUniversity of Mississippi and an MBA and Accountancy degrees from MississippiState University.
