Reserved Parking
Departments or groups desiring reserved parking for special events are encouraged to coordinate the parking with Campus Safety during the planning phase of any activity. Since there are a limited number of convenient parking spaces throughout campus, all activities cannot be accommodated with reserved parking. Requests for reserved spaces must be authorized by the requesting organization's Dean or Vice President's office before the request is made through Campus Safety.
Departments wanting reserved parking should complete a Parking Request Form. The Associate Director of Campus Safety coordinates requests for reserved parking and is the contact person. The approval of reserved parking by the Associate Director depends on other activities on campus, the time and date of the event and the number of attendees anticipated.
Because of the limited number of parking spaces on campus, an organization/department/school requesting reserved parking spaces should ask for the least number of spaces. The overflow area south of the Leslie Wright Center is the primary area used for reserved parking. Requests for five or fewer spaces can probably be accommodated in close proximity to the event location. Requests for more than five spaces will more than likely be accommodated in the overflow area south of the Leslie Wright Center.
If large events are scheduled during the busiest campus hours, facilitators are encouraged to use off-campus parking areas and provide shuttle service to the campus. Campus Safety does not provide shuttle services for these events. Reasonable van rental rates can be arranged through Business Services.
Organizations/departments/schools may consider hiring an off-duty Campus Safety officer to work the parking areas and assist their guests with parking so that there are no interruptions in reserved parking services. The rate of pay is time-and-a-half the officer's hourly wage plus benefits. On average this is around $15.00 per hour, and there is a three hour minimum for all events. For all off-duty assistance, please contact Stephen Inman at 726-2020.
