Volunteer Opportunities: 

 

You Can Make a Difference

 

        Volunteer at or help organize fundraising events/drives during the holiday season for canned food, clothing, paper products or personal hygiene items;

 

        Volunteer at the administrative offices and help with day-to-day operations such as answering the phone and greeting the public;

 

        Spend time at the Group Home/Shelter program playing sports, games, or organizing crafts for youth;

 

        Serve on the Board of Directors;

 

        Become a volunteer to help youth in crisis through Project Safe Place.

 

We welcome one-time activities or long-term projects!

 

   Programs and Services Provided by Family Connection:

 

   Residential Care Program:  Group home, runaway/homeless youth center, and emergency shelter for youth

 

   Project HOPE:  Services for runaway and homeless youth in Birmingham

 

   Coalition for Safe and Drug Free Communities:  Addresses concerns of youth drug, alcohol, and tobacco use

 

   Project Safe Place:  Provides immediate access to help and safety for youth in crisis situations

 

   RECONNECT Project:  Saturday program for at-risk youth and their parents

 

   Therapeutic Outreach Prevention in Schools:  Counseling support for students in Shelby County Schools

 

     Family Connection has been serving children, youth, and families in the Jefferson and Shelby County

     communities for over 30 years.  In 2006, we helped over 2,600 individuals in the community and educated

     over 35,000 people through school and community presentations.

Homewood Parks and Recreation Board

Homewood Parks and Recretation is hosting its Annual City- wide Fall Carnival on Monday, October 29, 2007 at Homewood Community Center.  The event will be from 6:00 pm- 9:00 pm.  In order to make this activity a success, we are asking the support of your organization by volunteering to assist in operating carnival booths or juding the costume contest.  Please contact me at 205-871-7304 if you can help us this year or mail your reply to the address below with the names and number of volunteer parcticipating.
