My husband Lee is a divorce attorney and mediator, and we live with our yellow lab Kowaliga. Both of our children live and work in the Los Angeles area. Our daughter Adrian is an actress, and our son Joe is a writer/director with his own production company. Joe and his wife Michelle are the proud parents of our only granddog, a Welsh corgi named Atlas. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, reading, singing, snow skiing, theatre, and travel.
My area of expertise is intercultural communication. This summer I am traveling with a group of Samford faculty to Ecuador in order to study the culture there and incorporate the knowledge gained into my intercultural communication courses.
I teach at Samford because I enjoy the students, my colleagues, and the varied opportunities Samford offers for interdisciplinary study and travel abroad. Samford promotes a high quality academic program in which administrators encourage and support the faculty's efforts to engage innovation in their teaching strategies. At Samford I am part of a community; I value the friendships I've made during my time here.
