biannual, biennial
Biannual means twice a year and is a synonym for semiannual; biennial means every two years. Because these terms can be confusing, consider whether the context makes your meaning clear.
We conducted our last biennial study in 1996; we’re due to conduct it again in 1998.
I had my biannual dental exam last week; my insurance covers two exams each year.
