Photographic Services

Photographic services in the Office of Marketing and Communication provides a wide range of services for the university, including photographic coverage of many university events. These are maintained in an online database that includes Samford University images such as campus scenes, university buildings, events and interesting classroom and laboratory environments. The high-resolution images are available for free to use on the web or in reports and presentations.

Faculty and staff in need of a portrait may book an appointment for a photo session in the photography studio located in Brooks Hall. There is no charge for this service. The subject will be provided with a professional digital image that will also be used by the university for internal and external communication, including websites. These images may be provided to news or other media outlets as part of university marketing efforts.

To complement the university's professional photographic services, engage our existing constituents and facilitate the sharing of Samford's story to the general public, the Office of Marketing and Communication uses several social media and mobile tools to encourage the Samford community to share their memorable Samford experiences in real time.  These services include:

  • Samford in Focus (SIF), a periodic photography journal covering recent campus highlights that is compiled by photographic services and stored on Flickr. 
  • SamfordYOU, which provides our community with tools to share their memorable Samford experiences with one another and the world using their phones and social photography services like Instagram and Twitter.  Empowering our community with tools that allow them to be brand ambassadors anywhere in the world magnifies the reach of Samford's voice while crowd sourcing media assets that would otherwise be unavailable. 

SamfordYOU photo campaigns will either focus on encouraging the sharing of Samford experiences that support the brand attributes listed below or enhancing major university events with real-time story telling tools.
