In-house web professionals design, redesign, update or maintain web pages for Samford schools, departments, programs or organizations. Samford uses a content management system so individuals, departments and organizations can maintain and update content directly. The time needed for initial site design or redesign depends on the complexity of the site.

What is Web Design?

Here's a definition we like that explains it: "Web design is the creation of digital environments that facilitate and encourage human activity; reflect or adapt to individual voices and content; and change gracefully over time while always retaining their identity." (Definition by Jeffrey Zeldman, A List Apart)

Our Web Design Process

Step 1. E-mail Donna K. Fitch with your request for a new or redesigned website. She will contact you in a timely manner to set up a meeting to discuss your needs.

Step 2. Send your text (MS Word format on disk, as an e-mail attachment or a link to current online content) and any photography or logo you may have. (Photos should be a minimum of 300 dpi, in JPG format.)

Step 3. If you do not already have suitable photographs, please contact Photographic Services to schedule a photography session.

Step 4. Your project will be assigned to a designer, who will come up with an initial draft and contact you for your approval.

Step 5. The designer will make any requested changes until you are satisfied and approve the design.

Step 6. The designer will construct templates using the content management system based on this design that will enable you to update your own pages. Any changes made to the design at this stage cause delays in launching the site.

Step 7. The designer will populate the new pages with your content.

Step 8. The designer will set up a training date to turn your new website over to you, show you how to update the pages, and provide you with a username and password for the site. If your site has been redesigned, you will be provided with a CD containing the files for the old site. A page will be placed at the old web address that directs visitors to the new site.
