The SMART Motor Development Program has been in operation since 1984. In addition to providing quality, developmentally appropriate movement experiences for preschool age children (ages 3-5), SMART also serves as a practicum experience for undergraduate students majoring in exercise science at Samford University.
The SMART Program is designed to provide a broad range of gymnasium and aquatic experiences to children ages 3—5. These include swimming, gymnastics, perceptual motor skills, fundamental motor skills, and beginning sport skills.
This program is designed to improve motor performance and physical fitness with the by-product of improved classroom performance, greater creativity, development of positive self-concept and improved socialization skills needed to interact with other children and adults.
