Sports Medicine [Pre-Med]

The Sports Medicine program prepares students for graduate programs in medical, dental, physician assistant, optometry or pharmacy school. The program provides valuable training for future physicians in such areas of preventive medicine as nutrition, exercise, fitness, and weight management.

This information is not offered in medical schools, and a firm foundation can be achieved through this prevention-oriented program. Students are assigned a departmental academic advisor in addition to a health professions advisor who will guide their progress toward medical school. Students gain competencies in exercise stress testing, maximum oxygen uptake testing, body composition determination, computerized diet analysis and exercise.
