Undergraduate Student Applications

Scholarship applications in the Department of Kinesiology and Nutrition Science are available annually in mid-March, the deadline is early April and students are notified of awards in mid-April. All students enrolled as majors in the department are eligible but priority is given to those students who have been students in the department for at least one year.

Description of Kinesiology and Nutrition Science Scholarships

Ralph W. Beeson Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship is available to all students, but priority is given to upperclassmen that have made notable accomplishments.

Stephen & Marlene Seibert Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship is available to students in Athletic Training, Exercise Science, Fitness and Health Promotion, Sport Administration and Sports Medicine. Selection of this scholarship is based on a clear commitment to the profession related to Kinesiology, financial need, career/vocational goals, and academic achievement.

Patricia H. Terry Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship is available to students majoring Nutrition and Dietetics or Foods and Nutrition. Selection is based on academic achievement, financial need and professional service.

Avalee Willoughby Scholarship

This scholarship is available to students in Athletic Training, Exercise Science, Fitness and Health Promotion, Sport Administration and Sports Medicine. Preference is given to students involved in Samford’s Summer Swim Program. Selection is based on financial need, involvement in the departmental major's clubs and professional associations, academic performance, career/vocational goals, and other scholarships or grants awarded.

Daniel E. Merck Scholarship

This scholarship is available to juniors and seniors in Athletic Training, Exercise Science, Fitness and Health Promotion, Sport Administration and Sports Medicine. Selection is based on financial need, extent of involvement in majors club and professional associations, career/vocational goals, and the availability of other scholarships or grants.

Marion A. Ferguson Scholarship

This scholarship is available to students majoring Nutrition and Dietetics or Foods and Nutrition. Selection is based on academic achievement, financial need and professional service.
