Graduate Application Deadlines
To be considered for admission by the School of Education Graduate Studies Admissions Committee, applicants must have a complete application on or before the posted application deadline for each upcoming term. Admissions Committee meetings generally take place within one week following the posted application deadline for each upcoming term. Applicants are typically notified of the Committee's decision within one week following each Admissions Committee meeting. Applicants should plan completion of applications accordingly to accommodate for possible schedule variations (holidays, inclement weather, etc.). Admission is competitive and applicants meeting the application deadline will be given preference. Admission is determined by the School of Education Graduate Studies Department Admissions Committee, which considers a combination of the applicant's GPA(s), GRE/MAT score(s), results of scholarly writing sample evaluation, written statement of purpose, candidate recommendations and interview (if applicable).
- To be considered for Summer I, applications must be completed no later than Monday, May 13, 2013
- To be considered for Summer II, applications must be completed no later than Monday, June 17, 2013
- To be considered for Fall 2013, applications must be completed no later than Monday, August 5, 2013
It takes approximately two full weeks for newly admitted candidates to be issued a Samford UserID, password and email address - information that is needed to register and pay/coordinate Financial Aid for courses.
Scholarships awarded by the School of Education Graduate Studies Department are posted for each academic term separately and may not be posted prior to the payment deadline set by the Bursar's Office (205.726.2816). Candidates receiving scholarships from the School of Education Graduate Studies Department should prepare to either (1) pay the full amount owed and request a refund after the start of classes or (2) pay the amount owed, less the scholarship amount. If candidates choose the 2nd option, it will be the candidates' responsibility to monitor his or her student account to be sure all financial obligations have been met in a timely manner.
Candidates not completing payment for courses by the payment deadline may be dropped from courses and/or issued a late payment fee.

The Immunization Record requirement is NOT part of a complete application for the School of Education Graduate Studies Department. Applicants are expected to have the Immunization Record requirement complete no later than two weeks after the first day of the first term of his or her program to avoid a Student Health Services Immunization Record requirement late fee. All inquiries regarding the Immunization Record requirement should be directed to Student Health Services at 205.726.2835.
