The Film Concentration in Samford's English Department began in the fall of 2005 with Jay Lasater as its sole student. In just three semesters the program has expanded to nine students: Erin Carroll, James Fenwick, Preston Miller, John Murphree, Kyle Mykitta, Joseph Rhea, Meg Self, and Elissa Young. It continues to grow as students are attracted to film criticism and analysis classes, as well as various genre classes.
