About the Program

Program Outcomes

  1. To train students in a practical way for careers as paralegals to attorneys.
  2. To promote a basic understanding of legal concepts and terms on subjects that are important to those engaged in general practice or in specialized areas of law and to equip students with legal writing and research skills that will enable graduates to perform as skilled members of a legal team.
  3. To provide a general understanding of the principles of ethical and professional responsibility as these relate to lawyers and paralegals.
  4. To provide a broad background in general education for development of educated, socially, morally, and ethically aware individuals.
  5. To constantly upgrade and adjust the program to fulfill the needs of the community by seeking input from local attorneys, paralegals, and students.

* Submission of FAFSA and completed application by this date guarantees financial aid consideration for the current term.

** Applicants applying for admission after this date may be eligible for financial aid through the submission of the FAFSA. Due to possible timing issues or time constraints, financial aid may not be available for disbursement by the first day of class. Students must secure other funding in the meantime to guarantee their continued enrollment.

Information for Applicants

We invite applications from prospective students who have earned an associate's degree or a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution.  The application for admission is available online.  Applicants must submit the application, letter of recommendation, current resume, application essay, and official transcripts from the degree-granting institution in order to be considered for admission.  The Paralegal Studies Certificate Program admits students for the fall, spring, and summer terms.  If you have a transferable associate's degree from a regionally accredited institution and wish to complete a bachelor's degree in conjunction with the paralegal certificate, please visit the Evening College website for more information.

In Person

We are located in Dwight Beeson Hall (DBH), Rooms 101-102. DBH is also known as the Brock School of Business. Upon entering campus, take a right onto Montague Drive. Follow Montague Drive around campus until you reach Riley Road on your left. Take a left onto Riley Road and proceed past Cumberland School of Law on your left and park where convenient. You will then see the back of DBH located to your left adjacent to a lower parking lot, which is reserved for faculty and staff. You may enter the building from the back or from the front.
