In high school, Frances participated in numerous muscular dystrophy camps and attended several national conferences for spinal muscular atrophy in her desire to raise awareness and funding for research. At Samford, Frances has been involved in campus life as an SGA senator, a member of Phi Mu sorority, and the Intellercollegiate Ethics Bowl team. In her junior year, she founded a new student organization, diversABILITY, dedicated to raising awareness about students with disabilities and chance perceptions about what it means to have a disability. Last summer, Frances was selected to attend the Witherspoon Institute at Princeton University. This summer, she received an Alabama Power Research Foundation Fellowship to conduct a comparative analysis of disability policy in India and China with Dr. David Smolin of Samford's Cumberland Law School.
