Active in academics, sports, and the community, Austin was the team captain of his school's baseball team and was selected to the All-Metro team in 2011 and 2012. Involved in multiple clubs, he was an officer in National Junior Honor Society, National Honor Society, and Future Business Leaders of America. He played a major role in Mountain Brook's Relay for Life and helped them become the second highest money raising high school in the nation in 2011 and the highest money raising high school in 2012. Additionally, in 2008 he founded and lead Hands and Feet Ministries at Canterbury United Methodist Church. He also coached Little League baseball teams in his community. As a freshman, Austin joined the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity.
