The Pete Hanna Center

Today, after decades of impressive growth, Samford University has become a testament to the early vision of its leaders and alumni. Nowhere is that more evident than the new Pete Hanna Center, complementing the inspiring campus architecture in the heart of Samford’s athletics complex.
Distinguishing Samford among the nation’s elite academic and athletics programs, the Pete Hanna Center represents the best of our past, the hopes of our future and our mission
at hand.

A State-Of-The-Art, Multipurpose Facility

A 132,000 square-foot, multipurpose facility, the Pete Hanna Center boasts a state-of-the-art 5,000-seat arena designed for hosting the highest level of intercollegiate competition. This includes NCAA men’s and women’s basketball and women’s volleyball. With the ability to expand the seating capacity to 6,000 spectators, the arena can also accommodate high-profile concerts, community events and speaking engagements —as well spring commencement, university-wide convocations and pep rallies.

More than Just an Arena

The Pete Hanna Center serves as the fitness and wellness facility for all of Samford students. It offers the latest in aerobic, strength and fitness equipment. The center also houses a sports medicine and training center, as well as a strength and conditioning training room feature. Highlighting the main entrance of the Athletics Center is the chapel. Available to students and visitors of all faiths, this important distinction is a reminder of Samford’s commitment to the spiritual lives of the campus and the community.

The Circle of Champions

Inside the Pete Hanna Center’s main foyer— in prominent view of all who enter— is the Circle of Champions. This area is dedicated to the men and women who invest in the physical, intellectual and spiritual experiences of the students who are educated at Samford University. You’re invited to join this dedicated group that is committed to completing construction costs for the new Pete Hanna Center. A gift of at least $5,000 will ensure your important place in Samford history as you help to complete the financial needs for the largest single construction project in university history. Pledges to the Circle of Champions can be paid over five years.
