Faculty Grant Seeking Guidelines
Grant Seeking Approval Form
The grant seeking process begins with completion of the Grant Seeking Approval Form. Following department chair and dean signoff, faculty member will send Approval Form copy to the Academic Grants Officer, who will secure the provost's signature and return copy to the faculty member.
Grant Application Sign-Off Form
- The grant application/proposal must receive administrative approval prior to being sent.
- The Grant Application Sign-Off Form is attached to the final proposal/application for administrative sign-off.
- Following department chair and dean approval, the application should be forwarded to the Academic Grants Officer, who will secure provost approval.
- The Academic Grants Office must receive the Grant Application Sign-Off Form and proposal a minimum of 15 working days prior to planned mailing.
- The Academic Grants Officer will secure required chief administrator(s) signature(s), institutional documentation and file copies.
- Academic Grants Officer will work with faculty member to determine mailing process.
Grant Application Sign-Off Form
- Make sure that you have current agency/organization grant seeking guidelines.
- Contact agency's program or grants officer to discuss appropriateness of project for the agency/organization.
- Follow guidelines very closely.
- Prepare narrative with the reader(s) in mind:
- Utilize language in keeping with the reader's experience.
- Include only requested information. If uncertain, contact program officer.
- Set preparation benchmark dates: proposal/application preparation, review and editing, second and third reader input, acquisition of needed support documentation, final packet review and signoff, mailing date and proposal due date.
- Adhere to application/proposal deadlines, including final application due date, interim and final report dates.
- Request Academic Grants Officer assistance in providing:
- Institutional documentation
- Proposal/ application review for recommendations
- Signatures such as president, trustee board chairman and provost
- Final proposal/application review prior to provost and/or president signoff.
