What are the advantages of Focus?

Our three key terms--Direct, Connect and Reflect--explain some of the advantages of enrolling in Focus.

Direct
Focus faculty are enthusiastic about providing direction through the program, and work together to build courses that complement each other both in content and scheduling.
Connect
Focus students connect to each other through special social events and by working together in small groups. They connect to faculty who take a special interest in mentoring. They connect to the world outside of Samford through service learning in the Birmingham community. They’re part of something important.
Reflect
Learning without reflection doesn’t mean much. Focus students reflect on vocation, what it means to be called and what it means to serve. They reflect on how a Christian university combines faith and learning. They reflect on the very nature of learning by discussing the ways their courses relate to each other.
