Adjustment to First Year

Foundations

Foundations is a one hour course designed to address various issues that first year students encounter. The course is taught by faculty and staff who are well suited to become advocates and mentors for freshmen. Topics included in the course: the mission of the university, academic advising, time management, financial management, social issues, campus involvement, faculty-student relationships, academic success. Students are not required to enroll in the course, but approximately 75% of all freshmen do so. Students receive on academic credit for successful completion of the course.

Samford Outdoor Summer Adventure

Samford Outdoor Summer Adventure (SOSA) invites you to dive head-first into the Samford community with four days of pure experience with a crew from the Samford class of 2012 led by two Samford upperclassfolks. Click the link above for all information including registration forms.

Counseling Office and Office of Disability Support Services

The Office of Freshman Life works closely with these two offices as we refer students who could benefit from their services.

Career Development Center

Two counselors in the Career Development Center are specifically trained to work with freshmen who are interested in exploring majors and career opportunities. The Office of Freshman Life often refers students to the CDC.
