Dear Samford Greek Community,
On behalf of the Samford University Interfraternity Council I would like to thank you for your contributions to an Fall recruitment. Fraternity members, rushees, and the IFC recruitment committe are all to thank for unprecented organization and collaboration throughout the week. I am proud to say that this year excitement about Samford Greek life seemed at an all time high. We have all already seen the fruits of these new additions to the Greek Community at Samford through community service initiatives and social endeavors.
One such activity currently being sponsored by the Interfraternity is a tutoring program that has been adopted at McElwain Elementary School here in Birmingham. I would like to especially thank the leadership of each men's Greek organization for their support of this activity, as well as volunteers from each chapter who sacrifice their afternoons one a week to help provide academic assistance and mentorship. Your efforts have made this, the first ever weekly IFC service initiative, the most successful Greek-wide comminuty program in years. I look forward future work at McElwain Elementary and the relationships that will be formed through this program.
With Fall Recruitment behins us, the IFC is looking forward. Officer elections will take place soon, and I am excited to see a new group of leaders and the ambitious vision that they will provide for Greek life at Samford. Through this transition, current and past officers will be working hard to address this, the third year of delayed recruitment, as it pertains to the future. IFC will be gathering input and proposing a reccomended recruitment schedule to Student Affairs administration before a Fall, 2006 schedule is created. Please keep checking the website for updates reguarding this Recruitment initiative.
Thank you again for contributions to another succesful year in IFC. You have made serving as Interfraternity Council President an enjoyable and procudtive experience.
Sincerely,
John Lucas
IFC President
