Theatre Performance, Production and Criticism in London (Jmc/Engl/Thea
399) - Dr. Don Sandley (4 credits) : This course
will investigate the process of creating a play in the professional
realm of the London theatre
environment. The students will trace the progress of a work from
the playwright through the various design and production processes
and marketing teams, to the director and finally to the appraisal
of the critic. Satisfies the general education Arts Appreciation
requirement.
Court and Country (Engl/Hist/Art 399) - Dr. Jane Hiles
(4 credits ): Explore the brilliance of Tudor
and Stuart England. Investigate Renaissance self-representation
through literature, drama, history, painting, architecture
and landscape. Enter into the contexts of Renaissance debates
on the concepts of "art" and "nature" as they shaped the English
court, countryside and national identity. Satisfies the general
education Art Appreciation requirement and Humanities requirement.
