Greek Life at Samford

From the IFC President...

Dear Prospective Member,

There has been fraternity life at Samford for more than 130 years. "Since the first fraternity was chartered at Samford, a unique opportunity for friendship and personal growth has exitsted. As president of the Samford University Interfraternity Council (SUIFC), I see how significant greek life has been to the Samford community. Our fraternities are committed to pursuing scholarship, spritual development, social development and civic responsibility.

Each fraternity has different programs for spiritual and character development: Bible studies, leadership conferences and member retreats. The greek system at Samford continually reaches out to meet the needs of the Samford community, both inside and outside its gates. Samford's fraternity men are involved in several areas of university life such as athletics, University Ministries, the Student Government Association, Connections and the Omicron Delta Kappa honor society.

For reasons such as these, the SUIFC is regionally distinguised as having "fraternal excellence," earning the Fraternal Excellence Award given by the Southeastern Interfraternity Conference.

My participation in fraternity life at Samford has been positive, and I am sure it can be for you as well. SUIFC pursues high standards of fraternity membership throughout the year. Those standards will be visible during recruitment. I encourage you to participate with an open mind and prayerful atitude. Your decision will be one of the most important of your college carreer and the beginning of a life-changing journey.

Sincerely,
Rob Howell
Samford University Interfraternity Council President
