Insurance
To protect your good health and financial stability,
we encourage all students to carry adequate health
insurance coverage. Students should review their health
insurance plan prior to coming to college to ensure
that out-of-network benefits are included. At some
point during their college years, many students find
themselves no longer eligible for health insurance
through their parents or employers.
Students who at any time find themselves without adequate
coverage are urged to consider purchasing the Student
Insurance Plan. Coverage is available to student spouses
and/or children when the student is enrolled in the
plan.
Student Insurance
Samford University makes available to students at competitive premiums, a supplemental Student Injury and Sickness Medical Expense Plan. This plan insures the student against major expenses accompanying an accident, illness or hospitalization.
2008-2009 Academic Year: Insurance will be effective August 23, 2008 and will extend to August 22, 2009. You can read the policy, enroll, download an ID card, confirm eligibility, file a claim, or check the status of a claim at FirstStudent. Brochures and enrollment information are also available at Student Health Services.
Prorating: There is no prorating of the premium for a late start. However, there is a semi-annual rate with coverage effective January 1, 2008 and a summer rate with coverage effective June 1, 2009. All selections will terminate on August 22, 2009 regardless of whether you are still enrolled or graduate.
