Student Records Office Alternate Pin
A 6-digit number used to access Web registration by students. The Alternate PIN is generated within Banner in random fashion, so it is unique for each student, for each term, and for each year (i.e., a PIN for Fall 2007 registration will NOT be the same PIN for the same student for Fall 2008). Jan Term and Spring Alternate PINs begin with a 2, Summer PINs begin with a 5, and Fall PINs begin with a 7 (see table below). This number is obtained from the student's advisor. Note to Advisors: Be sure to click on the term for which the student is registering to obtain the correct Alternate PIN. Clicking on the current term will display the PIN that was used for the current term's registration.
| For Registration for... | Alternate PINs will begin with a... |
| Jan Term & Spring | "2" |

CRN (Course Reference Number)
Each section in the course schedule has a unique 5-digit number attached to it. It is the first column you see when you do a course search. This number can be entered into the add/drop worksheet in order to register for that section.

Hold
An administrative "hold" on a student's record that can prevent registration, receipt of transcripts, ability to view grades through the portal, etc. The most common holds are for overdue student accounts, parking fines, library fines, health services fees, telecom charges, etc. Students can also have holds for academic issues with the Dean of Students Office or for not declaring a major (once the student has earned more than 54 hours). If a student encounters a hold that prevents registration, he/she must contact the office that placed the hold and resolve the issue before registration can be completed.
