Transcript Request Instructions

Instructions for:
Currently Enrolled Samford Students (and Graduates Since Spring 2003)
Alumni (prior to Spring 2003, and/or students without University portal access)

SPECIAL NOTE FOR STUDENTS ENROLLED SUMMER 2007 AND LATER:
Verification of migrated data (comparing data in Banner to that seen in CICS Plus) may be required before a transcript can be released from the Banner system, so please allow extra time when making a transcript request.

Special Note About Electronic Transcripts
At this time, Samford University DOES NOT send academic transcripts in electronic format.  If a company or institution is requesting that you submit your transcript in such a format (PDF, for instance), please inform them that Samford does not currently allow for electronic submission of transcripts.  We send official copies by mail (free), by priority mail or FedEx (at the cost of postage if you don’t have a FedEx account), or unofficial copies by fax (now at no charge). Click here for more information on transcripts sent by fax or priority mail.

How to Request Transcripts -- Currently Enrolled Samford Students and Graduates Since Spring 2003:
Currently enrolled Samford students can request transcripts in the traditional method as detailed in the instructions for alumni. But currently enrolled Samford students also have a couple of options--available only to them--that can speed up the request process.

Transcript Requests (Via the University Portal):
Available beginning March 25, 2008. This is the preferred option for current students and recent alumns (who still have Portal access).

What are the benefits of making an online transcript request?

Click here for detailed instructions on how to make an online transcript request.

Transcript Request (Via E-Mail)

This option is available only to currently or recently enrolled Samford students and only from their active Samford e-mail account. The e-mail must contain the following information:

Contact the Student Records Office for more information.

How to Request Transcripts -- Alumni (prior to Spring 2003) and/or Students without University Portal Access:
Transcripts may be requested in person, by mail, or by fax.
Transcripts for alumni without an active Samford e-mail account may not be requested by e-mail.
Transcripts can be mailed directly to you or to another recipient (school, employer, state board, etc.).

Note: Transcripts for coursework completed prior to 1987 may take longer to process than the usual 1-2 business day estimate. Please allow extra time for those requests.

Ordering a transcript of your academic coursework at Samford University is easy - just send us the following:

You may want to print the transcript request form, and fill it out instead of sending a letter.

Send the above to:

   Birmingham, AL 35229-7030

Faxed or "Priority Mail" Transcripts:
If you have an immediate need for a transcript in order to register at another institution of higher learning, for employment or for insurance purposes, a transcript may be faxed at your request. You must provide all the information required for an official transcript. Faxed documents are generally NOT considered official; however, this is at the discretion of the receiver. Our fax number is (205) 726-2908.

Express delivery services such as Federal Express or Priority Mail must be arranged and paid in advance by the student. Many of these services can be billed to a credit card. Please note that Federal Express will NOT deliver to a post office box, so please provide a physical street address for all priority mail requests.

Our FAX Number:
If you are trying to meet an impending deadline, you may wish to FAX your request to us via (205) 726-2908.
