Writing Proficiency Exam

Beginning Spring 2007, the graduation requirement for passing the Writing Proficiency Exam (WPE) has been eliminated for transfer students who have not passed UCCA 102 with a C- or better. Students graduating Spring 2007 will NOT be required to take the exam.

The catalog statement will be revised to read as follows:

"Samford University considers the development of students’ writing proficiency one of its most important objectives.  To emphasize this objective, the University has a twofold writing requirement.  All students must complete Communication Arts II (UCCA 102) at Samford (or transfer an equivalent course) with a grade of C- or better.  In addition, students must pass two approved writing intensive courses at Samford.  These courses are designated with a W following the course number in the course listings of this catalog."

"W" status indicators are also listed in the class schedule, after the course section number.
