Academic Scholarships
Annual
Academic Scholarship Funds
Annual scholarships are awarded on a direct basis. One
hundred percent of contributions are awarded to deserving students within
the terms of
the established scholarship. Annual scholarships are as follows:
- Scholarship Society Contributor -- Annual gifts
of less than $1,000 are pooled with other gifts and awarded on an annual
basis to worthy
students
with demonstrated financial need. Contributors are recognized in the
annual president's report.
- Scholarship Society Member -- Contributors of
annual gifts designated to scholarships of at least $1,000 received
within an academic year (June
1 though May 31) are recognized as Samford Scholarship Society Members.
Contributors are recognized in the annual president's report and invited
to a celebration event.
- Named Annual Scholarship Fund -- Requires
a signed commitment to contribute at least $2,500 annually for four
years for a total of $10,000. Contributors
are recognized in the annual president's report, in the university
catalog and are among the honored guests at a celebration event.
- Named Presidential Scholarship Fund -- Requires
a signed commitment to contribute at least $6,000 annually for four
years for a total
of $24,000.

the university catalog and are among the honored guests at a celebration event.
- Named Scholar -- Requires a signed commitment to
contribute at least $15,000 annually for four years for a total of
$60,000.

among the honored guests at a celebration event.
Endowed Academic Scholarship Funds
- A Named Endowed Scholarship requires funding of $25,000
or more
- A Named Presidential Scholarship requires funding
of $200,000
- A Named Scholar Fund (full tuition scholarship)
requires funding of $500,000. Students assisted by
a Scholars Fund will be identified
as (Named) Scholars and may receive assistance (at a payout
rate that is established annually by the Board of Trustees
not to exceed
6%) up to 100% tuition and a stipend equal to 5% of tuition
for books.
