The Vulcan Materials Center for Environmental Stewardship and Education (VMC) is located on the campus of Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. The Center is housed in the Sciencenter, a $27 million dollar facility that opened in September, 2001. [see campus maps]

Vulcan Materials Fellows, representing diverse educational disciplines and area businesses work with the Center’s directors to create opportunities for open dialogue about environmental stewardship among members of the community, business and industry.

Mission

VMC seeks to promote the growth of environmental science education, and research within the Samford community and the Southeast through innovative projects, distinguished speakers, and partnerships with local and regional businesses and corporations.

Vision

VMC’s vision is to become a regionally recognized center and think-tank for providing environmental awareness through education and research.
