SUNSSHLA students

The Samford University chapter of the National Student Speech-Language-Hearing Association (SUNSSLHA) is recognized as a national affiliate of the National Student Speech-Language-Hearing Association (NSSLHA). The Samford chapter was established to encourage professional interest in communication sciences and disorders; to provide an opportunity for students to represent the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders on campus and in the community; to engage members in service projects; and to encourage student involvement and representation in matters of professional concern at the state and national level.

Nationwide, NSSLHA has approximately 13,000 members with chapters at more than 300 colleges and universities. Members of the Samford chapter are actively engaged in planning service projects each year. This year, the chapter received a gold honors ranking from the national organization. The student organization was the only one in Alabama to receive gold honors.
