Thank you for taking the time to learn more about the Department of Kinesiology at Samford University. Our department is committed to the personal and professional development of students, and we desire for each student to fulfill his or her calling.
We believe this occurs through the fulfillment of 1 Peter 4:10, which reads, “Each one should use whatever gifts he has received to serve others…” As a student in the Department of Kinesiology, you will not only receive a classroom education that is second to none, you will be mentored by faculty and staff who will help you achieve excellence in all areas of your life.
Whether you choose a major in athletic training, exercise science, health sciences, sport administration, sports medicine or sports ministry, you will receive course instruction from full-time faculty members that are professionals in your chosen field. Additionally, regardless of your major, you will perform an internship where you will be able to gain valuable practical experience and make professional contacts.
Our graduates are highly sought after for graduate and professional programs, as well as in the work force, because our students are well trained, highly motivated, professional and focused on serving others. For those students who choose to apply to graduate or professional programs in medicine, physical therapy and the like, more than 90% are accepted into a program.
We believe every student has a purpose, and our goal is to help you identify that purpose and to prepare you academically, professionally and spiritually to live out that purpose. Please feel free to contact me if I can be of assistance to you.
