Football game: Howard College vs. Mississippi College. Score: 21-3. Coach: Bobby Bowden.

Of course, Homecoming is one of the most exciting events of any year, but this one was a special one. Perhaps Howard's capture of the Choctaws' "victory torch" made MIssissippi College's defeat possible. A flaming "H" on the football field and another on the mountain gave an added glow to the buzzing campus, busy with decorations and floats.

Pi Kappa Phi fraternity, first place and Delta Sigma Phi, second place Delta Zeta sorority, first place, and Beta Sigma Omicron, second place; Freshman Class float, first place, and Pharmacy Division, second place claimed some of the trophies, while Flo Taylor took the Homecoming Queen title. Forming the rest of her triumphant court were Ann Boyton, Anita Funderburke, Suzanne Gibbs, Betty Jo Turrittin, Sammie Hughey, Lindal Fletcher, Haroldine Johnson, Myra Martin, and Alice Herring.
