- Duties:
- Teach a full 15-week semester of private lessons for various ages and levels maintaining a 12-hour per week teaching load during the fall & spring semesters.
- Teach classes in music theory, music appreciation, music history, etc. for ages & levels listed above as needed.
- Maintain lesson plans, working syllabi, information profiles, homework material, etc. for class & private students.
- Attend scheduled Preparatory Department faculty meetings.
- Attend Preparatory Department recitals when your students are participating; help to prepare the hall before, supervise participants during recitals.
- Teach courses for Adventures in Music & All Aboard for Music camps; assist Director in preparation of materials. Teaching in the summer camp programs is desired but not mandatory.
- Assist registration of new and returning students for upcoming semesters.
- Prepare & update private teaching schedule after studio is established. Communicate with director regarding any change in scheduling.
- Assist in yearly scholarship auditions.
- Have sensitivity to the various constituencies of Samford University.
- Understand & make a commitment to Samford University's purpose.
- Salary is commensurate with ability, experience & training.
- Employment begins January 07, 2008.
- Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's of Music (Piano) degree.
- A minimum of at least two years experience teaching piano (private & group) to students ages preschool through adults.
- Developed studio organization.
- Strong communication skills.
- Piano performance abilities
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's of Music (Piano)
