- Duties:
Summary of Position:
Assist co-teacher with curriculum planning, presenting & assessing, including classroom management & guidance.
- Participate in the development & implementation of curriculum & activity plans for children in your class & Individual Family Service Plans (IFSP) or Individual Education Plans (IEP) for children who have special needs. The classroom teacher should be thoroughly familiar with these plans & prepare the classroom environment to effectively carry out the plans.
- Collect data & maintain a data collection management system to be used to monitor children's progress & evaluate instruction.
- Communicate effectively & often with parents & suggest parent education topics for parent newsletter &/or classes.
- Supervise snack, meal & nap time so that these daily activities are calmly & effectively implemented.
- Assist co-teacher in developing & supervising outdoor learning experiences that enhance children's physical, social & emotional development.
- Assist in orientation, direction & evaluation of volunteers & university students, according to their assigned responsibility in the classroom as communicated by the center coordinator.
- Maintain a neat work area/classroom.
- Participate in regular staff & parent meetings.
- Participate in in-service training sessions conducted at the center or off-site when necessary.
- 40 hours per week, 5 days per week.
- Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- CDA certificate or equivalent college coursework.
- A minimum of six months experience in a child development center with both developmentally appropriate environment and activities, working with a specific age cohort (infant, toddler, 2,3, & 4 year olds).
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Early Childhood Education or Child Development degree.
- Early Childhood Education or Child Development degree.
